SMM has established these criteria with the aim of creating a transparent and verifiable SMM price-setting mechanism.
Against the backdrop of global economic integration, Thailand's power infrastructure construction, industrial development, and electronics manufacturing industry are thriving. As copper rod is a key raw material, Thailand's demand for copper rod will continue to grow. Meanwhile, in recent years, under the in-depth promotion of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Thailand has become increasingly closer, yielding remarkable results. The convenient and efficient trade channels between the two countries have been continuously improved, and the trade policy environment has been continuously optimized, which will also continue to promote the gradual expansion of the copper rod trade scale. In this context, SMM intends to add the 8mm copper cathode rod,CIF Thailand,$/tonne and the 8mm Oxygen-Free copper rod,CIF Thailand,$/tonne. Currently, it is collecting the prices of the CIF Thailand copper cathode rod processing fee according to the methodology and providing public quotations to the market for reference by upstream and downstream enterprises, offering a basis for decision-making, helping enterprises reduce transaction costs, and enabling them to gain real-time insights into overseas market conditions.
The quotation standard for SMM CIF Thailand processing fee quotes for copper cathode rods is as follows:
1、Product Specifications and Standards
The product specifications are 8mm copper cathode rod (T1, T2), oxygen content greater than 20ppm, and 8mm Copper Cathode Rod (TU1, TU2), Oxygen Content Below 20ppm. Standards applicable are BS EN 1977 or alternatively ASTM B-49.

8、Price Collection Methodology
SMM will, in accordance with the Price Collection Confirmation Agreement, regularly collect price information from the price submitter contacts in the CIF Thailand 8mm copper cathode rod market through phone calls, QQ, WeChat, fax, and email. This price information includes transaction prices and the most likely pending transaction prices expected by the enterprises. All instant messaging content, email communication records, and any face-to-face communication records will be archived. Details of phone communications will be recorded and entered into the database. SMM analysts must comply with the Compliance Regulations when reporting to their supervisors any communications from market participants that involve coercion or threats, or any attempts to influence the assessment through induced offers. Once the price is published, SMM will not make any corrections or adjustments on the same day.
